Each operator runs one sailing per direction per day, so there are two morning departures from Ha Tien.
Book 1 day ahead on weekdays and 3 to 5 days ahead on weekends and in summer, because both operators can sell out in peak season. The sea is calm and the water is clear from November to April. From May to October the wind season brings larger waves, and sailings can change or be canceled, so check your departure before you travel.
Pirate Islands to Ha Tien Ferry
Superdong and Minh Nga each run one afternoon sailing from Hai Tac Port on Hon Tre Lon Island back to Ha Tien Port. Minh Nga leaves at 14:30 and arrives at 15:00, and Superdong leaves at 14:45 and arrives at 15:15, after a crossing of about 30 minutes. A day trip works well: arrive on the 08:15 or 08:30 ferry and take the 14:30 or 14:45 ferry back. One-way fares are the same as from Ha Tien.

Minh Nga charges one flat fare of 90,000 VND for every passenger, which makes it the cheaper choice for adults. Superdong is cheaper for children. Children under 6 travel free on both operators. Superdong limits the senior and disability fares to Vietnamese citizens.

Both vessels are single-hull craft. Superdong offers leather seats, air conditioning, TV, life jackets, restrooms, bottled water, a cold towel and a seasickness bag. Minh Nga offers leather seats, air conditioning and life jackets. The route is short and the Gulf of Thailand is usually calm, so few passengers get seasick. In the wind season, choose a seat in the middle of the vessel.

Superdong weighs excess luggage and charges for it on board. Superdong prohibits explosives, flammable goods, chemicals, drugs, weapons and strong-smelling or leaking goods.

Ha Tien Port is about 1 km from Ha Tien bus station, roughly 3 minutes by taxi. Overnight parking costs about 10,000 VND for a motorbike and 50,000 to 200,000 VND for a car. The parking lot inside the port compound has no roof, and covered private parking nearby costs more.
Hai Tac Port is on Hon Tre Lon Island, the largest of the 18 islands in the Pirate Islands group, about 40 km from Phu Quoc.

Getting to Ha Tien Port
From Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Tien is about 315 km, 6 to 6.5 hours by car. A night coach leaves Mien Tay Bus Station at 22:00 to 23:00 and arrives around 05:00 to 06:00, in time for the morning ferry, and most coach companies run a free shuttle to the port. From Can Tho it is about 193 km, around 4.5 hours by car. From Rach Gia it is about 89 km, around 2 hours by road. From Chau Doc it is about 80 km, 1.5 to 2 hours by road.

Cancellation, Refund and Ticket Change Policy
Superdong charges a 30% fee for a cancellation requested at least 24 hours before departure, and later requests are not refundable. Superdong does not refund or change tickets on weekends, holidays or Tet, or when a sailing has fewer than five tickets remaining or is full.
If an operator cancels a sailing for weather or safety, passengers receive a full refund or a free change to the nearest departure.
