An Vinh Express 01 is the fastest vessel on the route at 35 minutes. The Phu Quoc Express catamaran is the steadiest in waves, and each of the three local operators runs two vessels against one for Phu Quoc Express. If you get seasick, choose the catamaran or a seat in the middle of the vessel and take medication 30 to 60 minutes before departure.

Sa Ky Port is on the mainland, not on Ly Son, and it is the only departure port for this route. It is 20 to 23 km from Quang Ngai City, about 30 to 40 minutes by taxi, Grab or coach, and 41 to 48 km from Chu Lai Airport, about 50 minutes by taxi or Grab. Ben Dinh Port is on Ly Son's main island, Dao Lon.
